The Wedding

The Wedding




A girl in a white dress;
              the day she'll always remember.
Roses in her hand, father at her side
           as the pews disappear behind her.
One of the best men in her world,
                                waiting her arrival.
      Darkness.
It began to swallow him up;
                    a worried expression.
 Then a sad smile.
She screamed and ran to the groom.
The aisle suddenly got longer.
  As she ran:
       He got darker,
                     she getting no closer.
Eventually, the abyss digested him.
      Light.
     "Hun..."
A friend shook her awake,
           sympathy in their voice.
"It was the wedding again.."
   The friend sighed, he helping her up.

In the fireplace were newspaper ashes
 "Man Killed On His Wedding Day":
        the headline.
"Come on.. We have to get to the church..."
   There was a limo out front.
   Their lights were on.
   There was a second limo.
No one opened it.
