Sun God and Moon Goddess



He shone bright in the day,
lighting the way of Earth's people.
The god, Phoibos, smiled below,
tickling the people with his ways.
Alas,
  as he guided the mortal hours,
he could not stop thinking about his lover,
     Luna.
Phoibos could see her glancing at him
   from across the buzzing orb.
Luna longed for him as well.
By the laws of their sire,
they could not be together
after dusk or dawn.
So, Phoibus waited until dusk;
he yearned for the hour.
As dusk rolled around,
    the god became eager.
Swiftly minutes passed,
  and the gods were united for an hour.
Passionately they made love,
  and when they finished,
he lingered throughout the night;
   each glimmering little star reminded Luna
of the Great Phoibus.
The Moon Goddess laid in the sky,
  awed by many as she rested
with her children, the twinkling stars.
