A Heart




A wise many once said:
"A heart that has never been broken can never be whole",
and I realize that this indeed, is very true.

I was naive in love;
he made me believe he could apply
everything I could dream of.

Alas, with these promises came lies.
Doubt squeezed our hearts,
and Mistrust wormed inside.

His words: venomously sweet.
At one point, it ended,
then started again.

It seemed like a never-ending cycle:
love and abuse with some desperation.
We both wanted to love and be loved.

We weren't right for each other;
later, I came to realize this.
Realization made me whole.

The wounds left behind filled me
with wisdom and knowledge;
I am fully whole.

I was whole before,
yet empty.
Now: a fulfilled void.
